On Sunday, March 03, 2013 at approximately 2:21 pm, the Johnson City Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 534 Crest Court.
Prior to JCFD arrival, Johnson City Police Sgt. Mitch Perry who was on routine patrol, arrived and tried to put out the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher.
The fire was too large for him to extinguish.
An engine arrived approximately five minutes after being dispatched. The apartment was approximately 50% involved and had extended to a common attic which is shared by 3 more apartments.
The fire was extinguished in approximately 12 minutes.
Four engines, two ladders and one air truck responded to the call with 17 firefighters.
The American Red Cross assisted in housing four displaced residents.
No injuries occurred during the incident.
