Johnson City House Fire Press Release 07-29-2011

On 07-29-2011 at 09:49am, units from the Johnson City Fire Department responded to a condominium fire at 1104 E. Ninth Ave.

Prior to arrival, units advised that there was heavy smoke visible.

First unit on the scene advised there was heavy flames visible in the rear of the condo #1.

It took approximately 60 minutes to bring the fire under control.

One condo was a total loss and the second floor of unit 2 sustained heavy damage. The third unit received very little damage.

No civilians were hurt in the fire but 3 firefighters sustained minor injuries.

Seven engines, two ladders, one rehab unit responded to the call. Other agencies that responded to the scene for assistance included: Washington County / Johnson City EMS, Johnson City Police Department, Washington County Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross.

Residents displaced from the fire were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

At the time of this release a cause has not been determined. The fire is currently under investigation by the Johnson City Fire Marshal’s office.
