Fire Fatality

A Johnson City woman died today in a fire at her mobile home, located on South Roan Street. A neighbor’s brave efforts partially extinguished the flames, prior to the arrival of the fire department. The Johnson City Fire Department responded with three engines, two ladder companies, two command units, and three fire marshals, placing 18 personnel on scene. With the fire department’s four minute response in icy conditions, the scene was under control in five minutes after arrival. There was minimal fire damage to the residence, but smoke damage was moderate.

The origin and cause of the fire are undetermined and under investigation. The name and age of the victim have not been released at this time.

The Johnson City Fire Department was assisted on scene by WC/JC EMS, Johnson City Police Department, Johnson City Fire Marshal Division, Elizabethton Electric System and the Carter County Coroner’s Office.
