Apartment fire at 1112 King Springs Rd

The Johnson City FD responded to an apartment fire at 1112 King Springs Rd Apt 20 at 22:56:12 on 10 Feb 14. 911 advised units while responding that this was a confirmed fire with flames and smoke showing. This was confirmed by the first arriving Engine company at 22:58:54. Command called for a second alarm due to the fire being in an apartment complex. The Department responded initially with four Engine Companies, two Ladder Companies, and a command vehicle. The second alarm assignment of an air truck, a Ladder Company, and an Engine Company was cancelled by command after fire crews gained a very rapid control time of the fire. The fire was contained to the room of origin. A civilian injury occured from over exertion in fighting the fire with a fire extinguisher prior to the arrival of the FD and was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. The FD was assisted by the Johnson City Police Department, the Johnson City Power Board, and Washington County/Johnson City EMS. After an investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office, the cause and origin of the fire was undetermined at the time of this release. Ongoing investigative efforts continue. Please contact Interim Captain Jerome Palmer at 483-5830 to answer any questions.
