Johnson City House Fire 12-31-2015

On December 31, 2015 at approximately 3:15am, the Johnson City Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 1202 Weaver Ave.

Prior to arrival, units were advised that a neighbor had heard someone scream for help and to call the fire department.

The neighbor ran to the scene and helped the person, who is confined to a wheelchair, escape the house. A second person had escaped on their own.

The neighbor then called 911.

The first unit arrived in under 5 minutes and reported fire in the rear of the structure.

The fire was extinguished by the JCFD.

Both residents were transported to the hospital for treatment by Washington County / Johnson City EMS.

The house was heavily damaged.

Cause of the fire is under investigation by the JCFD Fire Marshal’s Division.

Also assisting was the Johnson City Police Department.

Johnson City House Fire

On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at approximately 11:44 am., units from the JCFD responded to a house fire at 615 N. North St.

While enroute, units reported heavy smoke in the area. The first unit arrived in less than 5 minutes and advised heavy fire in the back of the house and that it had already extended into the attic with flames coming out of the roof.

A quick interior search of the residence was made with no residents being found.

The fire attack was hampered when the roof collapsed  in the middle of the structure.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and the investigation is being conducted by the Fire Marshal’s Division.

No human casualties were reported. Three pets were lost.

The home was a total loss.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist 2 residents that were displaced.

The JCFD responded with 4 Engines, 2 ladder trucks and 16 personnel.

Also assisting the JCFD at the scene were the Washington County / JC EMS and the JCPD.

House Fire

On 10/27/2015 at 13:29 the Johnson City Fire Department was dispatched to 1101 CLAIBORNE ST for a report of a house fire. The house was a single story about 1200 square feet with a large attic area. On arrival the structure was discovered to be approximately fifty percent or more involved with heavy fire at the front. A building search along with a quick fire attack was accomplished. The determination was made that no victims were found and the structure was vacant. The fire was knocked down after about ten minutes. We did an extensive amount of overhaul by opening walls and pulling ceilings. The Fire Department had seventeen Firefighters on the scene. The house was turned over to the Fire Marshall for investigation as to cause.

Johnson City Apartment Fire

At approximately 4:09 AM on Sunday October 18, 2015, units from the Johnson City Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at 2560 Plymouth Rd.

The first unit arrived within five minutes and found that a cooking fire in one of the apartments had activated the sprinkler system. The fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system upon activation and prior to the arrival of fire department personnel.

Fire department crews removed water and smoke from 4 apartments.

The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced family.

Four Engines and two Ladder Trucks responded to the scene.

Other agencies that responded included the Washington County / Johnson City EMS and Johnson City Police Department

No injuries were reported.

 

October is Fire Prevention Month.

This incident underscores the need for working smoke detectors and functioning sprinkler systems.

Missing piece of fire equipment Johnson City FD

The Johnson City Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 800 E Lakeview Drive (God’s Corner) on 12 Mar 15, Thursday at 3:27 p.m. A crucial piece of firefighting equipment was missing as a result of the response. The missing equipment is an ISG thermal imaging camera used to detect victims in burning structures and hidden fires.
