On August 19, 2014 at 1226 Johnson City Fire Department was notified of a possible hazardous material spill at West Towne Pharmacy located at 1619 W Market St. Upon arrival units found a small quantity of hydrochloric acid had been spilled in a storage room in the rear of the business. The building was evacuated by the fire department. Members of the Johnson City Fire Department’s Hazardous Material Response Team responded to contain the spill and naturalized the acid. Disposal of the material was handled by an outside mitigation company.
