House Fire 809 Hamilton Street

 

The Johnson City Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 809 Hamilton Street today at 15:19:15. Fire Communication reported prior to our arrival that smoke and flames were visible from the exterior. Three Engines, two Ladder Trucks and a command vehicle were dispatched to the scene for a total of 13 personnel. An aggressive attack through the rear entrance of the structure gained quick control of the fire while the structure was being searched for victims by another team. None was found. The occupant  of the house was not at home at the time of the fire. The structure received heavy damage to the laundry room and the bathroom. There was moderate damage to the hallway and smoke and water damage to the rest of the dwelling. Fire origin was located in a dryer in the laundry room. It is unknown at this time if the dryer was on. Fire Marshal Sam McLain was called to the scene.

Fire Fatality

On Wednesday, December 07, 2011 at approximately 1:30am, the Johnson City Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Lamont and Frances Streets on a house fire.

 

The first engine arrived on the scene in under two minutes and reported heavy fire and smoke conditions from the rear of the structure. The location was determined to be 700 Lamont Street.

 

During the primary search of the structure, a body was found inside. The deceased individual has not been identified at the time of this release. A joint investigation between the Johnson City Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s office and the Johnson City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is ongoing.

 

Four engines, two ladders and a rehab unit and one assistant chief were dispatched. It took 18 personnel approximately one hour to extinguish the fire.

 

There were no other civilian or firefighter injuries.
