House Fire

The Johnson City Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 2909 Vernon Street today at approximately 7:45 p.m. After a 3 ½  minute response time, the first unit on scene reported flames and heavy smoke were visible from the street. An occupant stated that all other occupants were out of the structure. Three engines and two ladder companies responded to the alarm. An attack line and a backup line were deployed, as the fire attack was initiated. The ladder companies provided ventilation to rid the structure of heated gases and smoke. One room and its contents received heavy fire damage, as the rest of the home received heat and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There were no fire service injuries reported.

WC/JC EMS was summoned to the scene to treat a male occupant, who had burns to his hands. He was transported to Franklin Woods Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

No operating smoke detectors were found at the scene.

The fire department was assisted by the Johnson City Police Department and Johnson City Power Board.
